For students aged 3 to 6 years old, this training programme is designed to improve motor skills while enhancing attention skills. The instruction teaches the basic fundamentals of self-defence in a positive environment that helps foster a positive attitude in the children.
All classes are taught using the most safe, fun and exciting instruction methods available for this age group. This programme works in conjunction with the Leadership programme, emphasising the same important monthly themes and value system. This is a great way for children to get exercise and have fun!
Badges are awarded for outstanding performance in the martial arts class, at home and at school. We believe in positive re-enforcement for appropriate good behaviour and performance.
The Tigers Tots system is based on a lifetime learning concept in addition to technical skills. Our basic building blocks for the Tigers Programme are monthly themes, including the following: Courtesy, Respect, Confidence, Honesty, Perseverance & Self-Discipline.
For any student aged 6 years to 106 years, this is the Programme that Beginners go onto and is for students who have set the goal for blackbelt training The leadership programme is designed to help our students obtain greater success in all areas of their lives.
There are no restrictions for age, rank or ability - the key to success on the Leadership Programme is the student’s personal conviction and commitment to becoming a role model which will ultimately find them as a martial artist and a representative ultimately of Family Martial Arts Centres.
In the Beginners training programme, students work on a range of values alongside their physical skills. These include Courtesy, Honesty, Perseverance, Self-Control, Discipline, Respect, Courage, Gratitude, Commitment & Black Belt Attitude.
Moving into the Intermediate level of training enhances your physical skills as well as covering the 12 leadership skills found in the leadership handbook - Creativity, Charisma, Commitment, Courage, Vision, Action, Strategy, Trust, Passion, Perseverance, Motivation & Communication.
We offer a targeted 6 month long martial arts course to young people with Down Syndrome or a learning disability. The programme would be a step-up course to introduce students to martial arts.
The course would be delivered using simple martial arts techniques, building on progress week to week, using additional Instructors in order to provide the higher level of one-to-one teaching that this group of students needs.
This group operates independently of the main student body initially, until students feel comfortable making the transition to mainstream classes. Students do not ‘have to leave’ at the end of 6 months. For some, they will not be ready to make the transition into the mainstream programme - we therefore offer them the option to continue on within the Lions classes. Some will readily & easily make the step up to the mainstream classes & they will be encouraged to do so if it is right for them. Some, of course, may choose to leave at the end of the course.
As part of this programme, we will be offering students the opportunity to progress through the different early belt levels associated with our martial art. The course includes a free uniform and 50% off fees, membership & insurance & Graduation fees (funded by the local authority).
The Lead Instructor, Carol Plummer, is an Educational Psychologist by training & profession.
